Lehr Jets to Victory in First Ever Meyer Valves and Vacs Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series presented by the IRA at Angell Park Speedway

July 31, 2016; Sun Prairie, WI -
For the first time in the series short history the Meyer Valves and Vacs Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series presented by the IRA took to the historic Angell Park Speedway. In qualifying, as many drivers worked to learn a new track, 2015 Wilmot wingLESS champion and Angell Park veteran Doug Schenck, who made his first start at the historic track in 1976, used his knowledge and prior experience to set quick time.
Heat race competition got off to a scary start as Mike Sullivan’s 9 car got upside down on the first lap. He was ok, but would be forced to retire from the rest of the night's action due to car damage. Upon re-starting heat 1 Doug Schenck jumped out to the early lead and remained there for the duration of the heat. Behind him Jimmy Kouba would unsuccessfully challenge Jim Scanlon for 2nd. The top 5 was rounded out by Craig Campton and Chris Klemko. Heat 2 saw Allen Hafford take the early lead but face major challenges from Jake Kouba and Todd Lehr on lap 4 both would pass Hafford and continue to battle for the lead. Lehr was unable to complete a pass on Kouba and had to settle for second. Hafford finished third in front of Jordan Mattson and James Walldan.
The feature started with heartbreak as second place starting Jimmy Kouba came to a stop under the flag stand ending his race with a mechanical issue. On the second attempt at a start, Todd Lehr moved from third to first and never looked back leading all 20 laps in route to victory. Cautions on lap 3 for James Walldan and lap 13 for Chris Klemko gave second place running Doug Schenck chances to challenge Todd Lehr but he would be unsuccessful on both occasions. Jordan Mattson and Jake Kouba battled for third most of the race. The closing laps saw Jim Scanlon charge from fifth to pass Schenck for second on the final lap.
