Despite waking up to sunny skies this morning, Saturday's forecast and the liklihood of rain, combined with high temperatures only in the 40's, Wilmot Raceway has decided to postpone their 2017 season opener and are cancelling tomorrow April 29th. The long range forecast has several dry days in it for next week which we could use to get more work done on the various projects going on at the speedway. 20 drivers for the Wisconsin wingLESS series presented by the IRA showed up to do battle on the high banks of the Beaver Dam Raceway. The field was a mix of experienced series regulars like Doug Schenck and the Koubas as well as drivers who were brand new to not only the series but racing cars in general. IRA met with the main man at GM Performance at the RPM promoters Workshop in Daytona, and our Quick Fuel and MSD rep (same parent company) at RP Expo last week. Following that, next meeting was with industry legal team on proper rulebook language. Finishing everything up, should have in print within a week. No car construction changes. The Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series by IRA has released a 25 race points schedule that has southeastern Wisconsin based group competing at 5 different venues. The series is a true traditional sprint car, though two economy engine packages power the group. With Christmas here, and the New Year just a few days away, it's time to put last season behind us and start focusing on 2017. The early success of OUR wingLESS program has been outstanding, actually a huge success story within our industry.
