Zielski Claims Pepsi Nationals Win

A main action saw 4th starting Ryan Zielski quickly move into the lead. Zielski would lead 15 of the 20 lap feature in route to his first victory of the season. Derek Crane finished in the second spot while Allen Hafford brought his White #38 across in third. The top five was rounded out by Saturday night’s feature winner Jimmy Sivia and former champion Jordan Mattson.

34 Wisconsin wingLESS presented by the IRA teams took to the Angell Park Speedway as part of the annual Pepsi Nationals. A passing points format was used for the Sunday night show, so heat race action started the night.

Heat race number one saw Doug Schenck, returning to wingLESS competition after trying his hand in Knoxville, Iowa at the Corn Belt Nationals, drive from fourth to the lead. Picking up the win Schenk set himself up well in passing points. Rusty Egan and Shawn Swim followed Schenck across the line. Zach Hansen finished in the fourth position while ninth starting Greg Olsen finished in fifth.

Heat race number two was won by Zach Raidart behind the wheel of his 23z machine. Jake Kouba finished in second with Allen Hafford in thirrd. Tim cox brought the “Meyer Flyer” home in fourth while Randy Stanford crossed the line in fifth.

The third heat race was exciting as fourth and fifth starting Jimmy Sivia and Ryan Zielski moved past the field into first and second. The pair would pass under the checkered flag in that order. Former Champion Jordan Mattson brought his car home in third followed by the Klemko siblings, Chris in fourth and Natalie in fifth.

The final heat race saw the furthest back starting winner, as Craig Campton charged from sixth place to the victory over Johnny Fahl and Derek Crane. Paul Shaffer finished in fourth while Vince Bartolotta finished in fifth.

The B main was next up, and would set the final six positions of the feature. Chris Dodd drove his Hopf Farms backed 01 from eighth to the victory over Tim Cox. Dennis Spitz finished in the third spot. Jordan Paulsen, Natalie Klemko and Charles Spoonmore would all move on to the A main.
