Jan. 26 Bristol, WI The annual Wilmot Raceway Awards Party drew an overflow crowd to the Bristol Oaks Country Club Saturday night. The top 5 finishing 2012 teams in each of Wilmot’s 6 divisions were recognized for their accomplishments, with several other special awards presented.

The night opened with a spectacular seventeen minute music video, presented by Jeff Fischer of Grandstand Video, highlighting the past season. Emcee Ray Underwood then introduced track spokesman Steve Sinclair who recognized several individuals for their significant contributions to the Raceway, first and foremost the Kenosha County Fairboard, and his partner Joe Roe. Additionally Sinclair presented Team of the Year honors to the #89 Street Stock team of Charles Pinkalla. The BMP Best Appearing Car Award was presented to Mike Sullivan and his #9 “Batmobile” Modified. The 2012 overall track Rookie of the Year Award was presented to Street Stock racer Carl Sturt. Raceway “Staff” Awards were presented to Dan Huber (Street Stock #44), Jimmy Morrison (Modified #88), and the K9 Race Team of Andrew Kiedrowski and Brandon Feit as they fielded cars in the Mini Sprint, Bandit 4, and Street Stock divisions. Appreciation Awards were presented to Earl Quirk, Betty Brandes, and the father and son duo of Mike & Nick Simons for their long time service to the raceway. Jeff Fischer and Kim Tennyson were also recognized for the outstanding contributions.

Underwood then presented the hardware and checks to the honorees, highlighted by Championship presentations to Nick Petska in the Outlaw Race Parts / Fec’s Place Mini Sprints, Dan Knight in the Hawg Heaven Bar Bandit 4’s, Joe Summers in the Massive Speed Pro 4’s, Rob Maule (powder blue 70’s tuxedo and all) in the R.A. Adams Enterprises / Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks, Scott Kuxhouse (Sargent Six-Time) in the Don’s Auto & Machine / Hoosier Tire Modifieds, and Mike Kertscher in the Goodyear 410 Sprints.

A good time was had by all, with Underwood proud to point out the tremendous publicity the Raceway has received of late with Maule currently on the cover of the Feb 2013 issue of Speedway Illustrated, and the Flat Out magazine cover photo of Powri Midget racer Andrew Felker which was shot at Wilmot, and the Sprint Car & Midget magazine recent feature on Sinclair. Plus the Spike TV feature on Steve Doherty which has taken him from Wilmot to racing overseas!

Modified driver Larry Surletta’s band “The Waterfront Dogs” rocked the post awards party, and a large enthusiastic gathering left focusing on Wilmot Raceway’s announced May 4th opening night.
