WILMOT RACEWAY HONORED 2013’s BEST Bristol, WI 2/25/14 The Kenosha Co Fair’s Wilmot Raceway held their annual Awards Party on Saturday night at the nearby Bristol Oaks Country Club. Point fund checks and hardware were presented to the top five in each of Wilmot’s 6 divisions, plus several special awards were presented. Jeff Fischer of Grandstand Video opened the evening with his typical outstanding tribute to the 2013 season. Comical Ray Underwood emceed the festivities. 2013 Wilmot Raceway Track Champions include; Hoosier Tire 410 winged Sprints – Jeremy Schultz, Don’s Auto & Machine Modifieds – Chris Carlson, R.A. Adams Enterprises/Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks – Charlie Pinkalla, Fec’s Place Mini Sprints – Nick Petska, Massive Speeds Systems Pro 4’s – Erik Grosch, and Hawg Heaven Bandit 4’s – Jason Jones. The Wilmot Raceway Team of the Year honors went to Street Stock competitor Chuck Shaer. Modified racer Mike Learman was named Wilmot Raceway’s Rookie of the Year. Scott Kuxhouse’s #57 Modified received the (Brett Moist Photography) BMP Best Appearing Car Award. Appreciation Awards were awarded to long time division sponsors Don’s Auto Parts & Machine Service, and R.A. Adams Enterprises as well as track staff members Tiffany Taylor & Todd Booker, Tony Jenkins, Jim Coots, and the Burba Family. Special thanks to all of Wilmot Raceway sponsors which additionally include Allstar Performance, CJW Dist (Miller Beer), Carriage Auto Body, Diary Queen of Zion, IL, and Twin Lakes Marine. The raceway’s Betty Brandes awarded Wilmot’s co-Race Directors Joe Roe & Steve Sinclair with Dedication Awards. Additionally Betty (with the aid of many) let track announcer Ray Underwood know how much he was appreciated by everyone in an emotional presentation. Sinclair spoke on behalf of the raceway staff and thanked the Fair’s Randall Rossi for their operation of the track. He then mentioned the entire track staff & prep crew, sincerely thanking them for all their efforts, friendship, and loyalty before concluding by thanking all the teams, sponsors, and fans of Wilmot Raceway for creating an atmosphere he (and Joe) were so proud to be associated with. A tentative schedule was announced which includes numerous specials (World of Outlaws Sprints, IRA & Allstar Sprints, UMP LM Summer Nationals, Badger Midgets, WDLMA Late Models, Illinois Vintage Stock Cars, etc, etc) and certainly something for every race fan’s taste. Mini Sprint runnerup Tim Brannam’s speech was a classic, and set the tone for a fun evening. Numerous door prizes were awarded, and the night concluded with the music of August Hotel. Opening race night for 2014 is May 3rd. REMINDER…. 4 cyl meeting is scheduled for Sat Feb 8th, 10:30 AM at Massive Speed Systems in Spring Grove.
