The 3rd annual Tommy Homan Memorial headlined this past Saturday night at Wilmot Raceway, and the R.A. Adams Enterprises / Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks did not disappoint. Thanks to all for their support of this event and special thanks to the Homan Family and sponsors (Zion Diary Queen for one) for making this a great night for the local racers.
This week is another Family Night as it’s the Modifieds turn to run for some extra cash. Joining the Don’s Auto & Machine Modifieds, the R.A. Adams Ent / Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks, plus the dual 4 cyl Pro/Bandit classes presented by Massive Speed and Hawg Heaven. Adults are just $10, with kids 11 & under FREE.
Don’t forget about the fast approaching Kenosha County Fair races. Thanks to Ken Iles of Carriage Auto Body (and his sponsors) there will be bonus money to the top point earners combined over the two days of Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Car action Aug 16-17, plus increased money for Saturday’s 36 lap Roger Iles Tribute finale. And let’s not forget “Smoke” Tony Stewart will be racing with IRA on Friday of the Fair, flying over to steer his Chevrolet Performance #14 sprinter following his qualification run for NASCAR’s Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway late the same afternoon. The 3-time NASCAR Champ racing at Wilmot with IRA, how cool is that!
The Tommy Homan Memorial this past Saturday produced some great racing action. Charlie Pinkalla swept the SS action, though it wasn’t easy. Pat Rossman charged his way through the field to keep the heat on and finished a very strong second. Ronnie Mink in the Homan #53 brought Tommy’s former ride home a solid third over Jeremy Olson, and Cody Erikson. Pinkalla topped qualifying and his heat, while Dan Huber took the other prelim heat.
Nick Petska continued his winning ways in Fec’s Place / Outlaw Race Parts Mini Sprint action at the Wilmot Raceway by topping Zach Raidart and Tim Brannam. Brothers Nick & Kyle Daywalt completed the fleet top five. Raidart and Nick Daywalt captured the heats.
Scott Redden took the Massive Speed Pro 4 feature honors edging Joe Summers and Jake Greensly, while Jason Jones took the Bandit 4 main over Gary Mondra, and Tyler Young. Erik Groesch and Rob Ehlenburg were 4 cyl heat winners.
Chris Carlson took the muscle car Don’s Auto & Machine Modified A-main as the 2011 Wilmot track champion defeated another former track champ in Mike Sullivan in a thriller. Steve Mueller, Jimmy Morrison, and Jeff Bodendorfer closely trailed at the finish. 22 Mods were on hand with heat wins going to Jason Hyerdall, Joel Crowbridge, and Sullivan. The Mod action is definitely heating up going into their special event this Saturday night.Wilmot has been blessed with competitive racing in all their divisions this season.
