Ion Stear of Harvard, Illinois captured his second 20-lap Wisconsin-Illinois Mini-Sprints feature of the season capping off Family Night Saturday, May 19 at Wilmot Raceway.

“These are a bunch of tough guys to run with,” said Stear.  “They don’t make it easy.”

Stear, who won on opening night, made it two for three overtaking runner-up Tim Brannam of Holiday Hills, Illinois during the closing laps.  Waupaca’s Andrew Kiedrowski, who won the May 5 feature, finished third.  Slinger’s Jeff Schmidt was fourth.  Genoa City’s Morgan Shepard fifth.

New Berlin’s Brad McGuire became the third different modified 20-lap feature winner of the season.  McGuire overtook Eagle’s Steve Mueller for the lead with five laps to go.  At the finish it was McGuire first, Mukwonago’s Mike Knurr second, Mueller third, Genoa City’s Mike Simons fourth and Pleasant Prairie’s Al Atkinson fifth.

“That was a hard fought battle,” said McGuire.  “Steve(Mueller) was hard to get around and Mike(Knurr) was coming on, too.  It’s a great win which I have to thank my parents for all their support.”

Burlington’s Brad Becker made his car look a little better in the off-season, but otherwise did not make any changes.  It proved to be the way to go as Becker scored the win in the season opening 15-lap Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Car feature.  Wheatland’s Taylor Dawson took second on the final lap in a tight battle.  Scott Quanstrom of Lake Villa finished third edging out Milwaukee’s Tony Barron who took fourth.  Waterford’s Kyle Sudduth was fifth.

“This is my biggest fan,” said Becker, joined by his daughter young daughter Kiley who said “I’m so proud of you daddy.”  “That makes it really worth it,” added Becker.

The street stock  20-lap feature win was awarded to Cody Erickson of Algonquin, Illinois due to initial winner Cody Potter of Genoa City being disqualified in a post-race inspection.

The adjusted final finish was  Erickson first, Big Bend’s Mark Baker second, Muskego’s Courtney Atkinson third, Brandon Mertes of Antioch, Illinois fourth and Racine’s Charlie Pinkalla fifth.
