First Responders Tries Again June 8 After June 1 Storms

(Wilmot, Wis., Saturday, June 1, 2019)–For the fourth time in six attempts, Mother Nature was the only winner June 1 at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. As a result, First Responders Night will try again on Saturday, June 8. All first responders, fire, law enforcement, EMT/Paramedics, showing a ID at the main ticket office will be admitted to the grandstands as guests of Wilmot Raceway. On the 1/3-mile clay oval will be five divisions of action including AutoMeter Wisconsin WingLess Sprints, Interstate Racing Association(IRA) Lightning Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks and Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Cars. When the grandstands open at 5:00 p.m., Meet The Driver featuring representatives from all five divisions will be on display and greet fans on the main concourse area. Representatives of area public safety divisions are planning to participate. Fans, both young and old, are encouraged to come out early to see race cars and public safety vehicles up close. Schedule for the evening has Meet The Driver 5:00-5:30 p.m. with on track activity slated for 5:45 p.m. and racing to follow. June 8 grandstand admission is $15.00 for ages 12 and over, $5.00 for ages 7-11, with ages 6 & under admitted free. Due to all of the cancellations, Wilmot Raceway has yet to have a duplicate feature winner. In the WingLess Sprints, two first ever winners have taken the checkered flags with Craig Campton of Pardeeville the May 4 opening night winner followed by Patrick Haynes of Bradley, Illinois on Memorial Day weekend May 25. The modified winners have been Joey Huenefeld of Cedarville, Illinois winning his first feature ever on May 4, followed by Tim Hamburg of Dixon, Illinois taking his first feature May 25 ending a two-year drought at Wilmot. Mark Heinert of Waukesha won the May 4 motorcycle engine powered IRA Lightning Sprint feature, which is the only time out of five times which they have been scheduled this year. Memorial Day weekend saw the season debut for the street stocks with Rob Maule of Hebron, Illinois taking his first win in his own car in a couple of seasons, after having won last year substitute driving. The Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Cars initial appearance of the year had John Cole of McHenry, Illinois capture his first ever feature. Jeremy Schultz of Beaver Dam won the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car feature on May 4 earning the past Wilmot and IRA champion his initial win for his new team and car owner. Located on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds in Wilmot, Wis., Wilmot Raceway will host several special events during the next month. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints return on Father’s Day weekend, Saturday, June 15, along with Lightning Sprints and Modifieds. A special Tuesday program, July 2, features the United Midwest Promoters (UMP) Late Model Summer Nationals Tour making a Wilmot weeknight stop. Modifieds and Street Stocks are on the program as well. On Saturday, July 6, BADGER Midgets make an annual appearance along with Wisconsin WingLess Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks and Bandit 4-Cylinder Stock Cars. On July 13 will be the only Wilmot appearance of the season by the touring NOS Energy World of Outlaw Sprints plus WingLess Sprints and IRA Lightning Sprints.
