The 2017 season opener for Wilmot Raceway is rescheduled for Saturday, May 6. Heavy rains and cold temperatures forced Raceway officials to cancel the planned April 29 race program.
The one-third mile clay oval facility located on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds in Wilmot, Wisconsin is receiving several improvements prior to the season getting underway. The extra week will allow more work to be completed which was being delayed due to the wet April.
Included in the work being done is construction of a completely new grandstand concession building, truckloads of clay being added to the racing surface and a long awaited scoreboard.
WingLess sprints, modifieds, street stocks, mini-sprints and Bandit 4-cylinder stock cars are on the schedule for the rescheduled opening night. Grandstand admission on May 6 is $12.00 for everyone ages 12 and older; while all youth ages 11 and under will be admitted free.
Several special events are planned for the season. The 6th Annual Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association(IRA)/Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Challenge is scheduled for Saturday, May 20. The battle of the two traveling 410 outlaw sprint car series is slated to feature Tony Stewart competing in a winged sprint car at Wilmot’s legendary oval for the first time.
