Coming off a spectacular Kenosha County Fair doubleheader weekend, the Wilmot Raceway continues action this Saturday night with their final Family Night Special. Adults are just $10 and kids 11 & under are FREE. Racing at Wilmot continues weekly through September 14th.
The point battles in the respective divisions are heating up, as is the drama. Mods, Streets, Mini Sprints, and 4’s go trackside this Saturday.
Another stellar performance was turned in by the R.A. Adams Enterprises / Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks. With the highest car count of the year for this division on hand Fair night, the group turned in an outstanding performance yet again. The 20 lap all green feature was captured by point leader Pat Rossman. Gerry Stollenwerk turned in a careeer best finish coming home 2nd over a very consistant Dustin Richards. Jerremy Olson and Mark Baker completed the top 5 with Dan Huber, Brad Norgard, Jim Vandervere, Jason Condrad, and Cody Erikson rounding out the top ten. Rossman holds a slight point advantage over multi-time feature winning Charles Pinkalla. Wilmot is extemely proud to host what many consider to be the best Street Stocks in the region.
The Massive Speed / Hawg Heaven 4 cylinder classes combined for their highest car count in recent memory, may be in their history, Fair night. This group has come a long way this season and they too put on a tremendous night of racing during the Fair. Their A-main also went all green, and their respective heats were quite competitive too. Joe Summers topped Taylor Dawson, and Erik Grosch in an excellent 3-way battle this past Friday in the Pro class. Scott Redden and Devon Dixon completed an impressive top five. Grosch, a past track champion, holds the point lead over Summers with 3 weeks to go in 4 cyl point racing. Brian Hilringhouse took the Bandit portion over veteran Todd Booker, and point leader Jason Jones, with Brandon feit and Tom Happ completing their top 5. 24 4 Cyl cars were on hand! Jones holds the point lead over Rob Ehlenberg. Keep up the good work 4 Cyl teams! With many tracks seeing a decline in their 4 Cyl fields, Wilmot has been blessed of late with a growing field of talented newcomers.
Late race drama took place during the Fec’s Place / Outlaw Race Parts Mini Sprint A-main Saturday night. Race long leader Ron Brannam was being challenged by track champion Nick Petska in the late stages of their 20 lapper as the pair ran side by side for several laps before contact was made flipping both. Zach Raidart who was running a close 3rd inherited the lead and the youngster went on to score big Fair night win. Mike Neau came home a very solid 2nd over Mark Heinart, Nick Sheridan, and Nick Daywalt with Tim Brannam, Dan Uttech, Kyle Daywalt, Randy Reed, and Kyle Koch rounding out the top ten.
The high powered Don’s Auto & Machine Modifieds had some great racing action upfront, though multiple yellows midpack stole some of thunder. Veteran racer and past track champion Chris Carlson scored the win by topping rising 2nd generation star Cameron Kuxhouse. After a great early multi-car battle for the top spot, Carlson took command and cruised despite several restarts. Kuxhouse then had to hold-off charges by Mike Simons and Jason Hyerdall. Nick Simons completed a good weekend for the Simons family with a 5th place finish. Joel Crowbridge, Jeff Bodendorfer, John Dost, Jason Holmes, and Phil Rehberg all survived the carnage to round out the top ten. Carlson has a slim point lead over Hyerdall, Kuxhouse, Mike Sullivan, and Crowbridge with 4 races remaining on the Mod schedule. Patience early boys, you can’t finish first if you first can’t finish!
The Sprints join in on the fun Aug 31, with Mini Sprint & 4 Cyl Championships headlining the action on 9/7, with the WDLMA Late Models adding some thunder to Mod & Street Stock Championships to close out the season on 9/14.
Good luck to all our racers down the stretch drive to the Championship!
