Coming to Wilmot Raceway this Saturday is the First Annual Roger Iiles Tribute - Wilmot Invitational. It will feature a full night of Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series action, plus a streamlined night of action for all Wilmot Raceway's other base classes (Don's Auto / Bassett Hound Mods, R.A. Adams Street Stocks, Fec's Place Mini-Sprints, and Wilmot's own F4 class). IRA will compete with it's regular format highlighted by a special 36 lap $2500 to win, $275 to start A-main, with the purse increase courtesy of Ken Iiles of Carriage Auto Body in honor of his late Father Roger. Roger was a long time supporter of both Wilmot Raceway and local racing in general.
The Mods, Streets, Mini-Sprints, and F4's will compete in a "NASCAR type All-Star format". The top 10 in current points (that sign-in) in each class will be locked in by points and will make up the top 5 rows of their A-main with the current point leader pulling the A-main invert pill at the Driver's Meeting. The other cars in each division will draw as normal and compete in a Qualifying race with the finish of that race setting the starting positions 11-20 of their respective A-main, straight up based on finish of qualifier. The A-main finish will go towards season championship points, with non-transferring cars from the Qualifier (if any, depending on car count) getting B-main non-transfer points. What's cool about this format is that first in points will start next to second, third to fourth, and so on within the top ten. With Wilmot Raceway ASA Championship weekend just 1 week away, this format should create plenty of drama and be a great lead in to September 5th! With over 100 cars expected in the pit area for this BIG Aug. 28th event, we will request cooperation in pit area parking and will be pit parking based on size of truck/trailer. It should be a great night of racing.
The Kenosha County Fair races were typical in regards to weather, unfortunately as what seems to be the case we lost Friday Night, though a valiant effort was put in by all on hand to try and get the show in. Ironically the shower that finally ended the night hit just as the first heat race of the night was heading trackside. Saturday's Fair race drew a massive crowd. Bill Balog was King of the Fair and dominated the IRA Outlaw Sprint portion. Balog topped Brian Kristan, Mike Kertscher, Tommy Sexton, and Bill Warren in a very entertaining IRA Sprint headliner. Ron Brannam picked up the victory in the Fec's Place Mini-Sprint division, while Shawn Kasten and Eric Grosch each won a F4 feature. Scott Kuxhouse picked up the 15 lap all green Mod Match race, topping Jason Hyerdall, and Mike Simons Jr.
BALOG IS IRA KENOSHA COUNTY FAIR KING
8/21 Wilmot, WI Two-time defending Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series Champion and current point leader Bill Balog turned in a dominating performance in front of a massive Kenosha County Fair crowd capturing the IRA's annual King of the Fair event at Wilmot Raceway. Thirty-six cars signed in for the popular show which consisted of four very entertaining heats, a pair of twin B-mains, and a 30 lap IRA headliner. Sixth starting Balog took command early and never looked back picking up his fourth IRA win in the last six events. Balog piloted the Gaerte powered Buesser Concrete #17b Maxim to victory.
The A-main got off to rough start as front row outside starter John Haeni was forced off the track on the initial start sustaining race ending damage. Donny Goeden wrestled the lead from pole sitter Darrell Dodd early with Balog, Tommy Sexton, and Brian Kristan in tow. Goeden led a handful of laps before Balog would roar by and never look back. A tacky but somewhat rough track created some outstanding battles throughout the field much to the large crowds enjoyment. With Balog pulling away the race behind became intense with Goeden, Sexton, Kristan, and Dave Uttech waging war within the top five, with Mike
Kertscher leading the side by side tandem of Scotty Neitzel, and Mike Reinke. Neitzel and Reinke would run nearly the entire race that way. Fifteenth starting Bill Warren, 20th starting Billy Hafemann, and 19th starting Jim Moughan were charging through the field. Scott Biertzer and Scott Young yellows plus a Jimmy Sivia red slowed the action, however the last several laps went non-stop with action behind the leader extremely intense. Sexton slid Goeden which allowed both Kristan and Kertscher to get by the early leader too. Then Sexton and Kristan ran side by side for numerous laps with Kertscher gaining on them both. Meanwhile Warren quitely ran the bottom to perfection and joined the Neitzel - Reinke fray. Kristan eventually cleared the always aggressive Sexton but the rim-riding Balog was checked out. Kertscher slipped past Sexton and began to run down Kristan. Meanwhile Warren drove under both Reinke and then Neitzel. There was definitely action-a-plenty. At the checkers it was Balog by a straight-a-way over Kristan, Kertscher, Sexton, and Warren. A persistant Neitzel nipped Goeden for sixth, with Reinke, Hafemann, and Moughan rounding out a very fleet top ten.
Heat wins went to Dave Uttech, Goeden, Dodd, and Haeni. Biertzer and Moughan each won a B. Reinke set quick time over the large field, while Hafemann earned Hard Charger honors.
This week IRA competes at the Oshkosh SpeedZone Friday before heading back to Wilmot for the rescheduled Roger Iisles Tribute on Saturday.

Saturday Night August 28th's WILMOT RACEWAY INVITATIONAL just got bigger. The Carriage Auto Body - Roger Iiles Tribute featuring the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints which was previously washed out back on July 31st has been added to this night. Special formats will be announced for the Modifieds and Street Stocks to streamline the program, but at the same time reward those who have supported the Raceway and sit in the top X in points. Racing will also include the Mini-Sprints and F4's as all 5 divisions will compete.
ATTENTION SPRINTERS, beginning FAIR week Aug 20-21 you MUST now run Goodyear LR tires too as part of our sponsor agreement, thus rear axle must be Goodyear. Howie Gleason will be on hand both nights.
It's KENOSHA COUNTY FAIR week! Lots of cool stuff going on at the raceway. Line X of Kenosha presents Truck/Tractor Pulls and the popular Combine Demo Derby on Wednesday & Thursday Aug 18-19. Friday features 3 of the regular competing Wilmot Raceway divisions including the Goodyear 410 Sprints, Don's Auto Parts & Machine / Bassett Hound Moidifieds, and the R.A. Then Sunday afternoon and evening it's the big Kenosha County Fair Demolition Derby. Come on out to the FAIR and enjoy some great Motorsports entertainment.
Saturday Night August 14th produced some great racing on a perfectly prepared track.
Brian Kristan topped Mike Kertcher, Tommy Sexton, Bill Balog, and Dave Uttech in a very entertaining Goodyear Sprint feature. Allan Gillis won a extremely competitive Illini Racing Series Midget race. Todd Lehr topped Bob Reichert and Jessica Brannam in the Fec's Place Mini-Sprint headliner. Ronnie Mink picked up his first R.A. Adams Enterprises Street Stock main as he benefitted from the Jason Condrad - Tommy Homan double spin coming off the final corner. Mink edged AJ Hedges and Rob Maule for the win as race long leader Ed Devall slowed with mechanical woes just 2 laps from the end. A tremendous Don's Auto & Machine / Bassett Hound Modified race featured multi-car battles throughout the field. Jason Hyerdall appeared to be headed to victory only to lose a fuel pump belt on the final lap, leaving Scott Kuxhouse, Ryan Marshall, and Jimmy Morrison to battle for the win, with Kuxhouse winning by a nose.
This week, Saturday August 14th the Wilmot Raceway has a very big night planned. Open Wheel fans will see the Goodyear 410 Winged Sprints, the Illini Midget Series, Fec's Place Mini-Sprnts, Don's Auto & Machine Modifieds, and that foursome will be joined by the R.A. Adams Enterprises Street Stocks.

Regretfully the originally scheduled Carriage Auto Body - Roger Iisles Tribute was lost at Wilmot July 31st. 1 3/4 inches of rain fell at the track over night. The grounds were saturated. Initially the track prep crew thought they could get the track ready, however the skies remained overcast and despite the efforts, the track only seemed to get worse, even to the point where the grader was unable to move the heavy wet stuff at all. We tried to catch most of you before you traveled too far. We apologize to those racers and fans who made it to the track without notice. We cancelled around 2:40 when it became evident we were not making progress. It was tough to lose this event as we knew it was going to a big one.Even tougher when the sun popped out after 4, however the damage was done. Record amounts of rainfall have fallen on the border area in both June & July. The Fox River is extremely high thus water table at Fairgrounds extremely high too. The race will be rescheduled.
Wilmot Raceway will host 410 Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks, and F4's this Friday Aug. 6th.
Monday, July 26
The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series takes to the Wilmot Raceway this coming Saturday July 31st for the First Annual Carriage Auto Body - Roger Iiles Tribute. Mr. Iisles was one of IRA's charter members and his son Ken has helped orchestrate this first time event. Roger and Ken have operated Carriage Auto Body for numerous years as well as the #36 Wilmot/IRA Sprinter driven by Todd Daun. Ken has added to the purse for this event plus put together a mini-point fund for the Top 3 in points over the 5 scheduled IRA races at Wilmot Raceway this season. The $2500 to win, 36 lap IRA headliner, in honor of the late Roger Iiles, will be teamed up with the popular Vintage Modifieds, Mini-Sprints, and Modifieds this Saturday night. Bill Balog leads Scotty Neitzel, Mike Reinke, John Haeni, and Kris Spitz in the current IRA title chase. IRA is supported by Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts & Service Centers, The U.S. Army, Osborn & Son Trucking, Bar's Leaks, Rislone, TW Metals, Cummins Onan, DNA Engergy Drink & Snacks, Carriage Auto Body, Nielsen Enterprises, and Goodyear.
In other news.... Congratulations to Scott Kuxhouse on picking up a $1000 payday by capturing Sevcik Motorsports & Race Engines Night in the Don's Auto & Machine Modified headliner July 17. Also kudos to Pat Rossman (R.A. Adams Enterprises Street Stocks), Todd Lehr (Fec's Place Mini-Sprints), and Eric Groelsch (Wilmot Raceway F4's) on their recent wins. Also, please note the change in divisions scheduled for Aug 14th, Winged 410 Sprints have been added. Due to the unfortunate current state of area Midget racing Wilmot Raceway regretfully has removed the Badger Midget portion on Aug 14, but will go forward with the Illini Midget portion.
This Saturday Night, July 17th will be the Sevcik Motorsports & Race Engines $1000 to Win Special for the Don's Auto Parts & Machine Modifieds. Joining the FUN will be the Fec's Place Mini-Sprints, R.A. Adams Enterprises Street Stocks, and Wilmnot Raceway Fearless 4's. Adult admission to the Grandstands is ONLY $10.
Last week (July 9th) Brian Kristan topped a charging Jereme Schroeder in the Goodyear 410 Sprint headliner. Scott Uttech came home third over Tommy Sexton who thrilled fans with his charge from the back after a early yellow. Nick Alden came home 5th. Jason Hyerdall topped Scott Kuxhouse and Jim Morrison in a great 3-way battle to claim the Don's Auto / Bassett Hound Modified feature. Jason Condrad, Pat Rossman, and Marty Meehan ran solid upfront and survived a caution filled R.A. Enterprises Street Stock main with Condrad edging Rossman at the line in a near photo finish. Erik Grossch topped Karl Truty and Dan Collins in the "fire" shortened Fearless 4 main event.
Saturday July 24th features the Midwest Enduro Series, plus point events for Wilmot Raceway's Street Stocks and Fearless 4's. The IRA Outlaw Sprints return to headline July 31st.
Sprint Cars will likely be added Aug 14 & 28, details to be announced soon.
The month of July concludes with the rescheduled $1000 to win Mod show on July 17th, also including Street Stocks, Mini-Sprints, and Fearless 4's. July 24th has our Street Stocks and Fearless 4's running in addition to the Midwest Enduro Series. Then July 31st brings a very special night as it's the Carriage Auto Body - Roger Iiles Tribute featuring the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints, Vintage Modifieds (on display and on the track), Mini-Sprints, and Modifieds.
The month of June provided the WI / IL border area the most rainfall in recorded history.
Despite the sun popping out on this past Saturday, June 26th, the damage was done from the 1" of rain received about 3am overnight. The Sevcik Motorsports $1000 to Win Mod Race will be rescheduled for July 17th.
This Saturday Night, July 3rd will be headlined by IRA's annual Wayne Daun / Al & Marie Winker Memorial. A solid field of Sprint Cars is fully expected. IRA has a great point battle going on between the trio of Bill Balog, Scotty Neitzel, and Mike Reinke. Add May Wilmot IRA Winner Tommy Sexton, plus Wilmot Raceway stars Todd Daun, and Brian Kristan to the mix and this show has all the makings for a great one.
Wilmot Raceway will run a 4 division program on Friday Night July 9th, featuring 410 Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Fearless 4's. Friday was chosen as to not conflict with both NASCAR Sprint Cup at nearby Joliet, and the World of Outlaws (and our Mini-Sprints) at Beaver Dam who both run Saturday. Wilmot Raceway ran the same Friday in 2009 for the same reasons and had a outstanding night, we hope for the same this year.

"We've got riders coming from several hours away and we're looking at their travel expense as any more rain is gonna take the track over the edge as in regards to getting the show in" stated series promoter Steve Nace. "We like this place and the track was gonna be awesome but the odds were not in our favor today. WILMOT OPENS IT'S 2010 SEASON WITH 7 WINNERS
The Wilmot Raceway opened its' 2010 season with a weekend doubleheader May 15-16.
A great turnout of both fans and competitors turned out for the Open Wheel Extravaganza on Saturday. 91 cars filled the pit area. A colder than expected night greeted everyone and heavy midweek rains combined with new clay made for a extremely fast, but tricky track.
Arizona driver Jerry Coons Jr driving the famous Wilke #11 bested Brad Loyett and Mike Hess in the Badger Midget main event. Donny Goeden topped Tommy Sexton, Brian Kristan, Patrick Haynes, and Dave Uttech in a very entertaining Goodyear/Sprint headliner. Bob Reichert captured a very fast Fek's Place/Mini-Sprint feature with Tom Brown coming home a very solid second. Austin Archadale roared through the pack after spinning early to come home third over Nick Petska, and Tim Brannam. Defending Modified track champion Scott Kuxhouse picked up where he left off by winning a ultra-competitive Don's Auto & Machine presented by Bassett Hound Mod main. Nick Simons, Jim Morrison, Mike Conn from the back, and Mike Sandholm rounded out the top five.
Day 2 brought in the Mods for their second consecutive night of racing, plus Street Stocks and Fearless 4's. 55 cars signed in on another cool night. Strong winds added to all the other intangibles the track prep crew dealt with, though despite less than perfect conditions, the racing action was both competitive and exciting. All the divisions ran super clean, wheel to wheel racing and left everyone in attendance knowing a very competitive season lies ahead. Eric Grosch topped the first Fearless 4 A-main of the new year with Brian Strane, Trevor Krul, Jake Eufinger, and Jimmy Strane completing the top five. Brad Norgard edged Tom Homan Jr by half a car length to win a very entertaining R.A. Adams Ent/Street Stock race. The top several cars ran multi-wide "under a blanket" for the entire 20 lap distance. Jason Condrad, mid-race leader Andy Gross, and Pat Rossman were the top five in this very entertaining race. The Don's Auto / Bassett Hound Mod feature got off to a scary start with a multi-car wreck in the first corner eliminating a few cars but involving half the field. As racing resumed, the action picked up immediately. There was action-a-plenty throughout a obviously improved Mod division. Nick Simons & Jim Morrison put on a great duel before leader Simons spun himself out of contention. Morrison would then hold off veteran Lee Tibbits for the win, with Mike Sandholm, Mitch McGrath, and a charging Scott Kuxhouse following close behind.
Wilmot Raceway will host a 5 division program this coming Sunday May 23rd, featuring Sprints, Mods, Mini-Sprints, Street Stocks, and Fearless 4's. Pits open at 2, Grandstands 4, with on-track action beginning at 5. Driver's meeting will be at 4:30. This will be the last Sunday show until the big UMP SummerNationals Late Model special thunders in on Father's Day Night June 20th. Other upcoming major events include the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints/Street Stock/Mini-Sprint/Fearless 4 North-South Shootout on May 29th.
Lastly, we'll continue to work the new clay feverishly in hopes of providing the best conditions possible. A sincere thanks to all who participated this weekend, the racing you provided was outstanding.
Goeden, Coons Jr., Kuxhouse and Reichert Open Wilmot
By High Groove Media Service
On a cool May evening the Wilmot Raceway opened its gates on the 2010 season. In sprint car action it was Kewaskum, WI leadfoot Donny Goeden taking his first victory of 2010. Brian Kristan lead the A-main for the first 10 laps eventually yielding to Goeden on lap 10. Once out front Goeden was on cruise control riding comfortably out front. Tommy Sexton Jr. was on a mission of his own moving up to challenge Goeden in the closing lap, Sexton could only get within a car length of the high flying Goeden who went on to victory. Sexton Jr. finished second, followed by early leader Kristan, Patrick Haynes Jr. and Dave Uttech Jr.
Badger midgets were also in action. Phoenix, AZ pilot Jerry Coons Jr. scored victory in his first visit to the Wilmot Raceway. Coons Jr. took off from the pole and was never headed, he led all 30 laps to collect the checkered flag. Brad Loyet finished second followed by Mike Hess, Travis Berryhill and David Gough.
Scott Kuxhouse proved why he is the defending modified champion. Kuxhouse came up through the pack to the front at the races mid-point. His job was not over however. Kuxhouse received heavy pressure from Nick Simons and Jim Morrison. Several restarts gave the Kuxhouse attackers several chances to beat the champ. Kuxhouse was up to the challenge and drove away from all challengers. Following Kuxhouse to the checkered flag was Nick Simons, Morrison, Mike Wittenburg and Mike Sandholm.
In Mini-Sprint action Bob Reichert survived to score his first win for 2010. The race got off on the wrong foot with Rich Corso ending upside down. Corso was uninjured. Reichert worked his way to point and withstood several attempts to take away his front running spot. Reichert drove to victory over Tom Brown, Austin Archdale, Nick Petska and Tim Brannam.

We still have lots of Streets & F4's to tech, so the pits will open at 2, grandstands 4. The 3 division show should not take all that long, so in trying to keep the track the best it can be, we'll do driver's meeting at 4:45, Hot Laps to follow, and with nobody qualifying we should be able to race just after 5:30 with hopes of being done between 8 & 9. There is a $100 bonus for high point man in Mod division over both night's with complete shows both days, Sat has no bearing on Sun. Streets pay $300 to win. The Wilmot Raceway staff would like to thank those who came out for the test/tune session on Sunday. Was really pleased with the quality of equipment that was on hand and the positive attitudes and enthusiasm displayed by everyone. It appeared most we just happy to be at the race track. While day racing and dirt is a tough combination, we were very pleased with how the track stayed together despite the constant hot lap sessions. It gave us a good idea of where we're at. I'm really pleased to state that we will have misting capabilities soon which will make life much easier on the prep crew. Also pleased to see that despite the track getting quite dry by the end that tire wear was not a factor.
We initially planned on having a second practice though at this time I do not believe that will be the case. We have other projects to work on prior to May 15-16 Opening Weekend, not to mention that the long range forecast for Saturday has it extremely cool.
Stay tuned for announcements regarding another practice but as of this writing it does not appear we are doing one this weekend, especially with Mother's Day on Sunday and all.
Street Stocks, there is a big $600 to win show for you at Beaver Dam Raceway Saturday May 8, Check out www.wismotorsports.net for details.
For those of you who wait til the last minute, this is last call for radio orders prior to opening night. Anything not rec'd by Thurs of this week will likely not be received by opening weekend. Checks for $75 w/o ear piece or $90 with need to be made out to Kenosha Co. Fair and mailed to Wilmot Raceway/Steve Sinclair 706 N. Green St Mchenry, IL 60050.
For those who have not teched, we'lll let you know what dates will be added if any for that, or what time the pits will open on opening day. Stay tuned....
Series sponsors have come on board to oprovide point funds in 3 classes to date, Sprints - Goodyear, Street Stocks - R.A. Adams Ent, Modifieds - Don's Auto & Machine. We are speaking with a likely candidate on the Mini-Sprints and are confident we'll have something for the Fearless 4's too. Additional announcements forthcoming. Also thanks to the Bassett Hound we have trophies all year in the Mod division.

The sound and smell of race cars at Wilmot is not far away. We are aiming for a rain or shine tech day of Sunday May 2nd as we have a fair building available to us which would allow us to tech inside need be. We will open the track for practice later in the afternoon-evening, though you must go through tech before hitting the track. Looking at opening tech around 10:30 AM with the track opening for practice around 2 or so.
Also RaCeiver radio's are mandatory. Appreciate the orders we've received to date, however those of you waiting too long may find yourself in trouble opening night if you don't have one. They MUST be pre-ordered and are mandatory.
Work is in full swing at the track. A new and safer flagstand is being created and some fencing in that area being replaced. The new clay on the track is being worked. Restroom updates are in progress too.
We hope to begin with a May 2 tech/practice day and follow it up with a few more prior to our big May 15-16 opening weekend. We plan on having another most likely Sat May 8, and if need be an early in the week one prior to opening night.
Additionally we'll have a F4 meeting announced for 1 day NEXT week too. Details forthcoming.
Attention Street Stocks..... Beaver Dam Raceway (formerly Charter) is having a $600 to win SS race on Saturday Night May 8. And ofcourse Dodge County has SS & Mods scheduled for this Sunday April 25th.
We look forward to seeing all of you on Sunday May 2nd as we prepare for what should be an outstanding season at the Kenosha County Fair's Wilmot Raceway.
Stay tuned for further updates and news....
RADIO reminder..... they are mandatory and part of the rules package. Radio's must be pre-ordered. Do not wait til opening night.
In regards to tech/practice days.... we want to start as soon as possible. We are constructing a new flagstand and making some repairs on front stretch wall and fencing.
Track has been graded and compacted and we will continue to do more compacting.
We hope to begin practicing yet this month..... though for sure on Sun May 2 we'll give it a go.
For those interested in racing or practicing prior to then. The Dodge County Fairgrounds half-mile is having a Open Practice on Friday Night April 16th, followed by an IRA Sprint show on the 17th. Then on April 24-25 at Dodge it's the 2-day First annual Wisconsin Spring Dirt Track Championships featuring IRA & MSA Sprints plus Grand Nationals on Saturday, and WDLMA Late Models plus Modifieds and Street Stocks Sunday (twi-light).

We will keep you up to date on upcoming Wilmot news and get tech/practices going as soon as front stretch work is completed, hoping for April yet....
Sprint Cars.... We will allow Goodyears, or Hoosier SC tires on RR on May 15 & May 23.
However May 29 IRA Show will require Goodyears on both RR & LR. IF WE get the two May non-IRA shows in, then beginning June 4 Wilmot will mandate the Goodyear RR.
At some point around mid-season Goodyear LR will become mandatory for non-IRA Wilmot shows too. Goodyear will be providing a point fund for the Wilmot Sprint division.
Modifieds.... Thanks to those who attended the March meeting. Special thanks to the Bassett Hound for hosting the meeting, and for being the nightly 2010 Trophy Sponsor for the entire Wilmot Modified season.
Tires.... Howie Gleason of Gleason Equipment (East Troy, WI) will be the Official tire dealer at Wilmot. Howie will carry Goodyear Sprint tires, plus Hoosier Mod, Street Stock, and Mini-Sprint Tires. Howie can be contacted at tiretruck@gmail.com
Modified rules are being updated and posted. The spoiler should be easy to understand, and air pressure is same as 2009 at 12 pounds.
SS stock carb rules are already posted & very clear, we allow more carbs than other tracks but nobody including us allow any alterations to the carb other than removing the choke from the carb. The choke is removed by removing two screws from the choke plate & sliding the rod out... NOT BY PUTTING IN A MILL OR BAN SAW & CUTTING THE [AIR HORN] TOP OF CARBURETOR OFF. We are going to be teching this area with much more detail. Also 368 ci is max and that DOES INCLUDE any tolerance our pump may have. A 368.1 reading when pumped will deem you ILLEGAL.
Don't forget to purchase, or order your RACEIVER radio's if you don't have one.
Thank You
Regarding RACEIVER radio's.... they must be pre-ordered if purchasing through us. (See below). Upon arrival we will have them ready for you to pick-up at practice days or opening night. Please do not expect to simply show up on opening night and try to buy one then, we are not stocking any quantity. Would like to send another order in first week of April.
Update....
Reminder... RACEIVER RADIO's are mandatory for all classes at Wilmot Raceway. For those that don't have them, you can purchase them anywhere, or if you want to order from us you can do so by making out check to... Kenosha County Fair Assoc. ($90 for complete unit, or $75 for radio only without ear piece). Checks should include your car number and division in memo portion. SEND to... Wilmot Raceway/Sinclair 706 N. Green St McHenry, IL 60050. We will have them available for you at preseason practice / tech days and ofcourse opening night. DO NOT wait til the week of opening night to order!
Steve, Joe, and Wayne would like to thank the Modified teams that attended their informational meeting. It was great to see the enthusiasm and want to reconfirm that we are all in this together and our combined group effort will make this a successful endeavor. Special thanks to the large number of Street Stock teams that attended their meeting too. We know many of you have been conversing with division director Jim. It's been great to see such a positive atmosphere at both meetings directed towards the future of Wilmot Raceway. WE ARE all in this together abd certainly look forward to working with all of you in achieving the common goal of putting on great entertainment for our fans, and having fun while doing it. And being as consistant as possible with our competitors.
As soon as the weather breaks we'll get going with tech/practice days. Opening weekend is full speed ahead for May 15-16.
We will post meeting times and locations (early April) for the remaining divisions. Please stay tuned for additional announcements and rule clarifications from questions brought up at meetings.
Thank You,
Wilmot Raceway Staff
Wilmot Raceway update....
WE have an informational meeting scheduled for any interested Modified teams scheduled for Thursday, March 18th, at the Bassett Hound Bar & Grill in Bassett Wisconsin, just a short drive from the Raceway. Hope to get things started at approx 7:30. From the track, go North on Hwy W to Hwy F (Bassett Rd). Go West on F approx 4 miles, the location will be on your right. Location phone is 262-877-9088. We will be taking orders for RaCeiver radios at that time also as they are required in all classes this year. We had a really good meeting with the Street Stock guys and hopefully this will go well too.
I do want to clarify a few things at this time in hopes of everybody having a slightly better understanding of the 2010 schedule. First off, please note it is TENTATIVE. Some events are still being negotiated at this time. Please know that May 16, 23, and 31 are scheduled as twilight events. We have no intention of those being late nights. Additionally May 31 was added to simply offer racers another race day. If that day doesn't work for many of you, we have no problem removing it. The few Friday's that appear are there for a reason as we feel in those few instances we have a better chance to succeed those weeks on Friday more so than Saturday, especially July 9 as the NASCAR Sprint Cup run at Joliet that night and the World of Outlaw Sprints (and our Mini-Sprints) are in Beaver Dam that Saturday too. We ran that same Friday last year with much success. Also regarding the Sunday LM Show, it simply wasn't available to us any other day as that tour runs 30 consecuive days. Actuallly we're quite pleased with a Sunday as several tracks have M, T, W, & TH events. We were asked constantly last year to get a LM show and we feel we got a good one. We are adding to our staff and purchased some additional equipment, and if all goes well we hope to change another date or two to Saturday's, possibly June 27 can move forward as an example. Time will tell. Lastly, regarding Championship weekend set for Labor Day Sunday & Monday. As like 2009, the grounds are used on Saturday for a non-racing activity and are unavailable to us. We ran on Sunday last year and drew our biggest car count of the year (and a real good crowd too). We can do many things with Monday..... start a little earlier obviously... but it can be regular race night, or we can change it up that day by running different formats, or run Powder Puff & Mechanics races, or simply utilize as raindate for Sunday. Again, just wanting to give our core classes another night of racing. Lastly regarding the Fair, we simply can't fit everybody in on Sat, and will rotate the other classes in with the Sprints in future years, this year it's the Fearless 4's and Mini-Sprints who get Saturday. We're quite pleased with our Friday line-up though too! Should be a great Fair..... Lastly, we truly did try and rotate classes with our specials, and think we were pretty equal with it. Actually still have to decide upon additional classes for a few shows yet. Hope that helps explain things a little better for now. We truly look forward to a great year and thank all of you for your tremendous support through the first part of our transition last year. We've got plenty to do prior to opening our gates for 2010, we've got new clay that needs to be worked, and our restrooms upgraded. We'll have some practice/tech days before our opening weekend too. Please don't hesitate to contact Steve Sinclair at 815-759-9269 or stevesinclair@wilmotraceway.com or Joe Roe at joeroe@wilmotraceway.com
Thank You |
WILMOT ANNOUNCES TENTATIVE 2010 SCHEDULE
March 8, 2010 The Kenosha County Fair's Wilmot Raceway is proud to release their tentative 2010 schedule. Without question, this schedule offers something for everyone.
It's obviously a much bigger schedule than last year and it provides a good balance of specials combined with plenty of race nights for the tracks base classes too. The schedule has many highlights and appearances by some of the countries premier regional touring series, plus we have some national flair too. "It's a definite balancing act putting schedules together now days," states 3-time National Sprint Car Promoter of the Year Steve Sinclair. "We've got to make events special and shake things up a bit, we're in the entertainment business. Tracks can't survive anymore by just relying on their base fans and competitors, the same old thing every week doesn't cut it anymore. We're trying some different things and based on the success we had last year and what I've seen the IRA series achieve over the years, I've realized that IRA's entire schedule is based upon tracks simply wanting to shake it up and give their fans something different. So we're gonna do that, but at the same time we're not forgetting our core divisions either as all classes have far more dates than they had in 09. Problem is you can't run everybody all the time, so you rotate the best you can and we've actually added some non-typical nights to the schedule so we can give all our core classes a full schedule. Some weeks Saturdays are best based on other activities, and sometimes it's Friday or Sunday that give you the best opportunity that week. NASCAR doesn't always race on Sunday anymore, nor does the NFL just play 1 night a week either. Seems like everybody wants to race at Wilmot this year, we're doing our best to make it all work successfully."
Highlights kick-off with a big 2-day opening weekend with Saturday May 15th being billed as an Open Wheel Extravaganza featuring 410 winged Sprints, the Badger Midgets, 1200cc Mini-Sprints, and Modifieds. A Sunday twilight show follows the next day with Modifieds competing again in another complete program with the Street Stocks and Fearless 4's joining in on the fun.
The Bumper to Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints highlight 5 of the 15 races that appear on the schedule for the 410 sprinters. May 29th will be the 2nd annual North - South Sprint Car Shootout, July 3rd the annual Wayne Daun / Al & Marie Winker Memorial, July 31st is the $2500 to win 36 lap Carriage Auto Body Roger Illes Tribute event, August 21st has IRA headlining the Kenosha County Fair races that night, with the series also headlining the Saturday portion of the Fall Festival of Speed on September 25th.
Speaking of the Kenosha County Fair, Truck/Tractor Pulls and the ever popular Combine Demo Derby is set for Wed-Thurs August 18-19. On Friday August 20th it's 410 Winged Sprints plus Modifieds and Street Stocks. Saturday August 21 has the touring IRA Outlaw Sprint Series plus Mini-Sprints and Fearless 4s, with the annual FAIR Demo Derby running 2 shows on Sunday August 22nd.
The UMP Late Model SummerNationals visit Wilmot in a rare area appearance on Fathers Day NIGHT June 20th. The tour stop is the 5th in 30 consecutive nights of racing for the touring pros. Helping out will be the WDLMA creating a nice Late Model match up, plus Wilmot's own Street Stocks demonstrating why they are the best SS division in the region.
For Open Wheel fans, in addition to all the Sprint Car action Wilmot Raceway will be providing in 2010, the track hosts the Badger Midgets twice, May 15 & August 14, with the Illini Midgets joining the action on the latter date. Vintage Mods will be part of the program on July 31st.
For 2-wheel fans we have the AMA All-Star Flat Track Dirt Series making an extremely rare area appearance on Saturday Night June 12th.
The Midwest Enduro Series will have our own Street Stocks and Fearless 4's added to the card this year, this event goes trackside on Saturday July 24th.
We have specials planned for all our core divisions. We're extremely proud of the group of racers we have and we're gonna showcase them. Each has respective nights where it will be there turn to shine. We also realize that we must have price points for our fans too, so with our schedule rotation there will be cost changes to the fan. You can't run specials every week, especially in this economy. Even our core divisions need a break as it's their families in the stands too. So we'll have some $10 (non-Sprint) grandstand nights which will help offset the Sprint nights which require tickets to range range from $15, $18, and up to $20 on some nights for adults. Kids under 7 are FREE and children over 8 will always have at least a 50% savings versus the cost of an adult ticket.
Following a Dog Show scheduled on the grounds for Saturday of Labor Day Weekend, Wilmot Raceway will host a September 5-6 (Sunday & Monday) 2-day Season Championship weekend. WE go twice Memorial Weekend too, Saturday & Monday. Another multi-day weekend is planned for Sept. 24-26 with numerous divisions going trackside in Wilmot's Fall Festival of Speed. Details of those weekends will be announced at a later time. We'll try a October Saturday too in hopes of one last nice day with the race season concluding Oct. 9th.
Lastly, we included dates like Memorial Day Monday as simply just another date for our teams to race. If it is unpopular among our teams we have no problem removing it. In regards to July 9-10, we picked Fri because of the NASCAR & WoO conflicts. Both Sprints & Mini-Sprints are scheduled for Beaver Dam on 10th, thus we picked Friday the 9th as that date worked last year. We are open to discussion if Mods, Streets, and F4 would rather not run Friday. Lastly, if Sept 5 gets in, we can utilize Monday as reg race day or change it up and have powder puff or mechanics races.... again our ears are open to suggestion. It's impossible to make everyone happy, however we certainly intend to try.
We definitely have something for everyone. We appreciate the tremendous support we received last year, and also realize we need to step up our game too. If you have any questions, please contact Steve Sinclair or Joe Roe. Rumors are NOT a good thing, feel free to contact Steve at 815-759-9269 or Joe at the info provided elsewhere on this website.
We're glad to have Jim back directing the Streets, Wayne with the Mods, and are proud to announce that Todd Booker is coming on to oversee the F4 class. We've got a GREAT team and look forward to a GREAT 2010.
Things are beginning to take shape regarding the 2010 season at the Kenosha County Fair's Wilmot Raceway. The schedule is coming together and there is certainly something for every type of fan. There will be activity at Wilmot Raceway nearly every week throughout the season. Ofcourse the main focus will be on Wilmot's own 5 base classes, Sprints, Street Stocks, Mods, Mini-Sprints, and Fearless 4's. In addition to several specials which will be based around those divisions, Wilmot is proud to host a date on the popular UMP Late Model SummerNationals schedule, as Father's Day NIGHT Sunday June 20th brings the touring series in on leg #5 of their month long circuit. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will visit 5 times, and the AMA American All-Star Flat Track Motorcycle Series will also ride into town for a special appearance. The Badger Midgets, Wisconsin Dirt Late Model Association, MSA Sprints, and Midwest Enduro Series will also have appearances and we're hoping to add a few more surprises yet too.The schedule hopefully will be ready for release following Florida Speedweeks in late February. Wilmot Raceway will operate nearly every week, though actual days of the week will vary, depending upon the events of that weekend. So racing could be Saturday, Friday, or even a few Sunday nights on occasion. And we have a few 2-day shows planned too. We hope to have a couple of test/tune inspection days prior to kicking off the actual racing season in Mid-May. We are truly excited about 2010 and hope to keep the momentum moving forward that we began last year. There are definitely more race dates this year than in 2009. We will try and have individual division informational meetings following Speedweeks and will announce dates and locations soon. On the Sprint side, Goodyear has come on board, so Wilmot will follow the rest of the 410 world in regards to tire rules, though there will be a run-off period (on non-IRA shows) prior to enforcing the exclusive drive axle rule, which does bring $$ into the sprint division. We are not raising pit pass costs, selling memberships, or anything..... but we do want teams to purchase Raceiver Radios and those will become mandatory in 2010. You can get them anywhere you'd like (some large speedshops/warehouses carry them), or pre-order (prepay) them from us at your respective preseason meeting. We do not raise up the price on these, and will sell them at our actual cost. Please do not wait til opening race night to do this. This will be a rule, and will be enforced. Look forward to seeing everyone soon.....
Thanks,
Steve Sinclair, Joe Roe, & Wilmot Raceway Staff
Thanks to those who have contacted us in regards to working on The Raceway staff, we will be in contact soon and will have a meeting shortly following.
Also, if anyone has interest in becoming a track or division sponsor, or even would like to advertise at the track, please contact Steve, Joe, Karrie, or a fairboard member and we'll put together a package based upon your needs.
Sprint Teams, Goodyear will put $$ into a point fund for your division. Additionally they will award some FREE tires to Wilmot Raceway supporting teams throughout the season. There are bonus incentives to kick off the program also, and the top 3 teams in 09 Wilmot Raceway points will be pleased to know Goodyear has something planned for you too. We will have a adequate run-off period, details will be announced.... however IRA is not having a run-off period and those wanting to participate in the IRA shows MUST have Goodyears across the rear. Howie Gleason will be the Sprint tire dealer. Details on the program will be announced soon.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - CONTACT: BOB BAKER; (641) 842-6176
DONNY SCHATZ NAMED NORTH AMERICAN 410 SPRINT CAR POLL "DRIVER OF THE YEAR"
FOR 2009
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (January 14, 2010) - For the fourth consecutive year,
Donny Schatz of Fargo, North Dakota, was voted the "Driver of the Year" by
the North American 410 Sprint Car Poll voting panel of media members,
promoters, sanctioning officials and manufacturers. However, unlike the
previous two years, it was not a unanimous decision this time. The 2009
World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series point champion and the '09
Knoxville Nationals winner earned twenty-two (22) of the thirty (30)
first-place ballots cast in the year-end poll.
Those drivers ranked second through fifth, respectively, are WoO regulars
Joey Saldana of Indiana, Jason Meyers of California, 14-time "Driver of the
Year" and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Steve Kinser of Indiana,
and All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) titlist Tim Shaffer of
Pennsylvania. Rounding out the 'top ten' for the season are Speed Dawg
Central Pennsylvania Point Series champion Greg Hodnett, Danny Lasoski,
Jason Sides, Stevie Smith and Terry McCarl, respectively. Joey Saldana and
Jason Meyers captured seven (7) and one (1) first-place votes, respectively.
Interestingly, it was NASCAR's Kasey Kahne of Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) that
earned the winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car "Team of the Year" award for his
first-time ever. A three-time "Wild Card Award" recipient from the North
American Sprint Car Poll himself, car owner Kahne utilized drivers Joey
Saldana, Craig Dollansky, Brad Sweet and Cody Darrah in his winged machines
in 2009.
Adam Wilt, the top rookie at both of the Lincoln and Williams Grove dirt
tracks on the tough Central Pennsylvania circuit in 2009, has also earned
the "Rookie of the Year" award in the '410' division of the North American
Sprint Car Poll. Following a tie in the voting, Steve Beitler of Skagit
Speedway in the state of Washington and Steve Sinclair of the Interstate
Racing Association (IRA) will share the "Promoter of the Year" honors.
Sinclair is a three-time winner of this award, while Beitler will be a
first-time recipient. Jack Elam of J&J Chassis, a 2009 inductee into the
National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, earned the "Builder/Manufacturer of the
Year" plaque for the '410' poll.
Joey Saldana, the leading feature winner on the ultra-tough WoO tour, was
named the recipient of the "Wild Card Award" for his exciting '410' sprint
car performances. The "Media Member of the Year" honors will again be
shared, due to a tie in the voting, this year between two past recipients,
Tony Veneziano of the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series and Justin
Zoch of FlatOut magazine.
The North American 410 Sprint Car Poll is an annual awards program of the
National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. All awards will be distributed
in the spring of 2010 at tracks throughout North America. The awards were
announced on the third day of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in
Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Congratulations to 2009 Wilmot Raceway Street Stock Champion Andy Gross as he is the Young Racers Club feature story in the March 2010 isue of Circle Track Magazine. Andy is featured on page 90 of the latest issue which is on newstands now.
The planning stages are in full force regarding the 2010 racing season at Wilmot Raceway. After a very successful inaugural year under the leadership of the Kenosha County Fairboard, an increased number of dates at the racy third-mile are on the agenda. Wilmot is unquestionably the home of 410 sprint car racing in Wisconsin and that will be emphasized with "atleast" a dozen sprint shows, five of which will be Saturday nights featuring the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series, including the Aug. 21 Fair headliner. Wilmot built a great base in all their other classes too which include Modifieds, 1200cc Mini-Sprints, Street Stocks, and Fearless 4's. The Street Stock division may be the best in the state. All of which will have an increased schedule over 2009, with each division having highlighted specials of their own. A tremendous variety will be offered in 2010 including a June 20th date featuring a Late Model stop on the UMP SummerNationals Tour. The Badger Midgets, AMA Motorcycles, Midwest Enduro Series, Tractor Pulls, a Demo Derby, and more yet to be announced will all be part of the 2010 season. On behalf of the Kenosha County Fair's Wilmot Raceway we wish everyone a Happy New Year and we look forward to sharing with you a tremendous 2010 season.

Just a reminder, The Wilmot Raceway post-season party is scheduled for this Friday night, November 6th at McHenry VFW Post #4600 located at 3002 W. Rt. 120 between Chapel Hill Rd and the river. Look for the big American Flag. This is a bar party, not intended to be your typical racing banquet. The facility has a large bar area perfect for some good bench racing. There will be a $5 cover. We will have food and ofcourse Wilmot Raceway track announcer Ray Underwood's band "Retroactive" will be performing also. It is a cash bar. Any time after 8pm is fine, food will be put out, and videos from past season played. At 10pm the other side of the hall opens up including a 2nd bar and Ray's band will perform, and from what we hear it's quite the show! Ofcourse the main bar area will remain open too. We'll honor our respective division champions, plus hand out a few other special awards too. There is loads of parking including around the numerous baseball fields, both front and back, which surround the facility. Plans are full speed ahead for 2010 and hopefully we can answer questions and get feedback too. Work on the 2010 schedule has already begun and it definitely includes more race dates, and yes we are still looking for more people interested in working as part of the track staff on race nights, including scoring. We hope to see many of you, so come on out and share a night out with the Wilmot racing community. It should be a good time.
Wilmot Raceway will be hosting a post season party on Friday night, November 6th.
The location will be the McHenry (IL) VFW Hall located on Rt. 120. It's an easy 20 minute drive from the track, simply take Wilmot Rd into IL and cross Rt. 12, Wilmot Rd turns into Johnsburg Rd at that point. Take Johnsburg Rd into Johnsburg and make a left on Chapel Hill Rd. Take Chapel Hill Rd to 120, make a Rt and the VFW is about a block up on right side. Can't miss the big American Flag! There is a large bar and ample parking. Our 5 division champs will be honored, plus a few other awards presented too. Wilmot Raceway announcer Ray Underwood's band, "Retroactive" will provide the entertainment. This is not intended to be a typical banquet type setting, but more like a bar party. There will be food provided. A $5 "cover" per person at the door takes care of the band and food. No advance tickets required. Just show up, have a drink, grab some food when you feel hungry, honor our award recipients, do some bench racing, watch race videos from this past season, and enjoy the music. Pretty simple..... and we're more than confident that Ray will keep the place energized. Time frame is 8pm til close, no specific start time, any time 8 or after is fine. The other half of the Hall is open to us at 10pm for those that want to spread out for quieter conversation. We'll hand our awards out in between band sets. It should be a good time.......
In other news, the Kenosha County Fair Board has voted to continue to operate the track in 2010 with Steve & Joe continuing to lead the way. A larger schedule will be contested and work on the 2010 schedule has all ready begun. We are looking for additional race night staff help, if interested please contact Joe or Steve. The schedule will be based on the 5 main classes; 410 winged Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mini-Sprints, and Fearless 4's and each division will have more dates than in 2009. We'll have several specials, and plan on having the Midgets back, adding a Late Model show or two, plus some non-typical motorsports entertainment as well. Ofcourse IRA will be back too. Wilmot's 2010 Fall Festival of Speed will be October 1-2. We hope to work in cooperation with a few tracks to our north, in regards to supporting each others specials to the benefit of the entire racing community.
We want to again say thanks to everyone who supported the Wilmot Raceway in this new endeavor in 2009. The support was actually overwhelming. Thanks to the teams, fans, officials, ASA, and numerous volunteers for their enthusiasm and dedication. Our two division leaders, Jim & Wayne, did an outstanding job with their respective divisions and are a big part of our success. Special thanks to the sponsors who came on board initially, especially CJW (Miller Beer) Distributors, and 95 WIIL Rock. We are creating sponsor packets for those interested; including basic signage, race night sponsorships, group packages, and even division title sponsorships. We can customize a package to fit anyone.
Congratulations to our respective 2009 Wilmot Raceway Track Champions; Scott Kuxhouse-Modifieds, Andy Gross -Street Stocks, Tom Brown-Mini-Sprints, Ryan Andrews-Fearless 4's, & Todd Daun-410 Sprints.

Unfortunately Mother Nature has put an end to the 2009 racing season at Wilmot. The grounds and especially track are totally saturated, and with the cold temps and lack of sun, the drying process is nonexistant. We thank everyone fo their support, and we will announce a new "party" date and location in the next few days. Wilmot Raceway looks forward to bringing additional dates and events to the 2010 schedule.

Johnson set fast time over the 40 car field, just over track record time. Heat wins went to Neitzel, Meyer, S. Uttech, and Kertscher. Joe Symoens won a B-main thriller over Dave Uttech, while Hepfner captured the second B-main.

Any car competing in base Wilmot classes of Mods, Streets, & F4's that fails to draw by beginning of 5:30 scheduled driver's meeting, will start last and not get any heat points.
Too many cars are coming late, in what we believe, is an attempt to beat the passing point system by purposely starting last. By not earning any heat points, those coming late will have to start B on tail in hopes of racing their way to transfer position to qualify for tail of A.
If no B-main in that class, they will start A-main from tail. We apologize to those who are late for good reason, however we had to do something to counter growing problem. This rule was put into affect on 8/15.

PAST WILMOT RACEWAY CHAMPION TODD DAUN CAPTURES W.O.S. SERIES WIN
High Flyers Communication & PR: camisha@highflyerspr.com
[KENOSHA, WIS.]-July 20, 2009- On Friday evening July 17th, the Wilmot Raceway (Kenosha County Fairgrounds) run by IRA President Steve Sinclair and 9-time IRA Outlaw Sprint Champion, Joe Roe among many others, hosted a winged 410 Sprint Car show. The rain clouds that lingered around the raceway did not hold-off the 21 cars from making the journey to the Wilmot Raceway (Kenosha County Fairgrounds). Each team was trying to capture the $1,000 A-main winnings. As each driver entered the raceway, they would pick a pill number that would dictate how they would line-up for the night’s 10-lap heat races. The teams would not qualify but receive passing points from their heat races and those points would help set the field for the night’s 25-lap A-main event.
The first heat race rolled onto the raceway and starter Jim Stout waved the green flag and the #83D driven by Tommy Sexton would jump to an early lead with the front wheels in the air ahead of the #10V of Matt Vandevere. Behind the leader, there was a three car battle with the #43 of Jereme Schroeder, #3D of Dave Boyd and the #11 of Darrell Dodd. Dodd took over the 4th position and would maintain that spot until the checkered waved on lap 10. The #10V running second was soon being chased by the #5H of Patrick Haynes. Behind the leaders, the #33 of Kirk Fehrman would pass the #3D of Dave Boyd on lap 5 and the #43 of Schroeder would pass Boyd on the low-line of the race track on lap 6 and he would soon be chasing the #33 of Fehrman for the 5th spot. Haynes driving the #5H would continue to chase Vandevere for the second-spot, but would come up short and finish third as the checkered waved. Sexton led the entire race by more than a straight away over the rest of the 11 car field and would be starting 5th in the night’s A-main event. (Finish: 83D, 10V, 5H, 11D, 33, 43, 3D, 14, 42 (79 & 72-DNS)
As Sexton captured his checkered flag, the second heat race pushed off and the #4K of Kris Spitz set the pace for the 10 car heat race. Stout dropped the green flag and Spitz drove hard into turn 1 and captured the lead from the #64 of Aaron Shaver. The cars all bunched up on the front stretch and among those were the #52B of Craig Loger, #36 of Todd Daun, #22 of Mark Wernes and the #2B of Jimmy Sivia. Sivia ended up laying the #2B on its side on lap 3 on the front stretch. He climbed from his damaged 410 and was unharmed, but he was unable to re-start. As the green flag dropped once again, Spitz maintained his lead, and Daun would pass Shaver coming out of turn two for the second spot. The #8A of Nick Alden would battle Shaver for the 3rd spot and would capture that position out of turn 4. Adam “Ace” Miller driving the #24M working the low-line would move around Wernes, however, the #5 of Brian Kristan who was in his 360 sprint car for the evening would move around Miller on the high-line and capture the 4th spot. As the checkers waved, Spitz would capture the heat race victory and the 4th starting position in the night’s 25-lap A-main event. Coming home second was last year’s Wilmot Raceway Champion, Todd Daun (#36) followed by the #8A of Nick Alden, #5 Brian Kristan and rounding out the top 5 would be Adam Miller in the #24M. (Finish: 4K, 36, 8A, 5, 24M, 99S, 22, 52B, 64, 2B)
The night air and sunset settled in and the teams worked diligently on pre-paring their cars for the 25-lap A-main event. The starting line-up: 10V, 33, 5, 4K, 83D, 36, 24M, 11, 8A, 5H, 99S, 3D, 43, 22, 42, 14, 52B, 2B, 64, 79 and the 72 of Dave Maynard was unable to start.
As the teams pushed their respective cars up to the line, each driver was had the $1,000 in sight. The drivers waved to the cheering fans that lined the grand stands on the front stretch and received the one to green sign from Steve Sinclair. Starter Jim Stout waved the green flag and the #36 of Daun wasted no time finding his preferred line and starting picking up positions. On the front stretch the #83D piloted by Tommy Sexton was spinning out from his 5th place starting spot and would bring out a caution. He was unable to re-start and the inside row of cars moved up one position. As the cars began to choose their preferred lines, after the green flag dropped once again, the #11D of Dodd would move around the #24M of Miller on the high-line for the 4th spot but would soon bobble and the #5H of Haynes would catch him and they would be side-by-side for the 4th and 5th positions. Haynes and Miller worked the low-line of the race track as Dodd continued to work the high-line. As the #4K got a bit out of shape in turn 4, Dodd moved around him on the high-line and moved into the lead as they began to hit lap traffic. At the half-way point, red flag conditions halted the sprint cars as the #64 of Shaver flipped down the back stretch in front of the lead cars. He climbed from the car unharmed but was unable to re-start as was the #10V of Vandevere.
There were nine cars on the lead lap as the field started racing once again at the start cone. With 11 laps to go, Daun was busy working the high-line and had a half a track lead on the second place car of Spitz (#4K). On lap 23 the #5 of Kristan captured the 3rd position from Haynes and the #99S of Scott Lenz would capture the 5th spot from Miller in the #24M. The checkered waved and Daun would capture the victory and would be $1,000 richer and climbed from the cock-pit in victory lane and stated, “Thank you for coming out to the races tonight. We had a great car, and I hope in a few weeks when it is the Wayne Daun/Al & Marie Winker Memorial here, I would be standing in the same spot. That is a special race for me, but this win is special too. I want to thank my daughter Hailey and all of my sponsors and fans for their continued support. What a great night!”
The final running order: 36, 4K, 5, 5H, 99S, 24M, 43, 8A, 52B, 11D, 14, 22, 42, 64, 2B, 33, 10V, 3D, 83D (79, 72, DNS).

The Kenosha County Fair & Wilmot Raceway would like to thank all the competitors and fans that supported the racing this past weekend. The action and support that was provided was truly outstanding. However the KCF would like to apologize to everyone for the sub-par track conditions this past weekend. While the on-track action was ultra-competitive and a tribute to the drivers and teams who competed, despite the unacceptable conditions, the KCF wants everyone to know that they will be making sure every effort will be made to improve the conditions of the past week and additional equipment will be provided so that failures can be overcome and better racing conditions provided on a regular basis. The track crew has worked extremely hard, but needs the tools to accomplish their task. The KCF is encouraged by the rising car counts in all the base classes and looks forward to a great second half of the season, beginning with this weekend as 410 winged Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Fearless 4's are in action this Friday July 17th, and the Midwest Enduro Series goes trackside for the 95 WIIL ROCK 200 on Saturday the 18th. We then look forward to the return of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints headlined event on August 1 and hope to give those teams the track they deserve. Thanks to all those who have provided great support to OUR new endeavor in the racing business, and we want everyone to know that we will make every effort to keep that support.
Thank You,
KCF

Wilmot Raceway is pleased to announce that some additional race nights are being added to the schedule. With the solid car counts in the base divisions and the positive feedback received thus far, it was determined to increase the nights of racing offered to both competitors and fans. Also a note to the racers, we are extremely pleased with the on-track racing you've provided thus far, it's been real competitive and extremely clean, keep it up. We are extremely pleased with how things have gone thus far and appreciate the tremendous support the competitors have provided.
The schedule changes are as follows. We have added Friday July 17th and it will include 410 Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mini-Sprints, and Fearless 4's. Now however Saturday July 18th will just include the Midwest Enduro Series, period. We've also added Friday Night August 7th for Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mini-Sprints, and Fearless 4's. We've moved Monday September 7th forward a day to Sunday September 6th.
Again we appreciate everyone's support in this transition year. Thank you all very much.

The Wilmot Raceway is proud to announce the rescheduling of the North / South Sprint Shootout to Friday Night July 10th. The originally scheduled date of June 6th was postponed by inclement weather. The addition of the Friday July 10th race to the schedule creates a big 2-day weekend at Wilmot Raceway as the Southern Wisconsin Modified Shootout is scheduled for Saturday Night July 11th. So now Wilmot Raceway will be the site of the 2-day July 10-11 Summer Shootout featuring the winged 410 sprints of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints & O'Reilly Midwest All-Stars headlining on Friday, and the Modifieds headlining Saturday. For the Street Stocks, 1200cc Mini-Sprints, and Fearless 4's it creates a great complete 2-day show for all those classes. With a limited schedule and tremendous interest, and what appears to be growing numbers in the base Wilmot Raceway classes, it was obvious we needed to reschedule and keep the interest in Wilmot Raceway strong. The availability of IRA was limited, and all concerned wanted to stay away from the 4th of July holiday, so this was the best day available. Not to mention the track needed a marquee event in July. This creates a great mid-Summer weekend for both the fans and competitors..... and certainly for Wilmot Raceway.

The highly anticipated North - South Sprint Shootout featuring the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints & O'Reilly Midwest All-Stars fell victim to Mother Nature Saturday afternoon. With the phone ringing all day from racers throughout the Midwest enroute to Wilmot questioning the weather and stating it was raining where they were, it appeared that Wilmot was the only place that had escaped the rain for much of the day. However three separate showers hit the facility just prior to the scheduled opening of the pit gate, that combined with a negative forecast and falling temps factored into the decision to postpone the event and turn the racers around, the overwhelming majority of which had not arrived yet or were held up an hour or two away waiting on a decision. We thank everyone for their interest in the event and we are attempting to reschedule.

This Saturday, June 6th, history will be made at the Wilmot Raceway as for the first time ever the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will co-sanction an event with their southern counter-parts, the O'Reilly Midwest All-Stars. Over 40 thundering 410 winged sprints are expected with pre-entries having been received from 5 states. Billy Balog edged Jim Moughan, and Mike Reinke at the Wilmot opener back on May 23rd, and much of that same intensity is expected this Saturday. Track crews have been working hard to provide a multiple lane venue.
In addition to this very special Sprint Car event, 1200 cc WMSA Mini-Sprints, and Street Stocks will be on hand with each running a 2-heat plus A-main support series role. Fearless 4's will run a A-main only. Several VINTAGE Modifieds will be on display throughout the grandstand area with several names from the past on hand to talk to and answer questions.
Pit gates open at 3, with Grandstand gates at 5. Engine warm-ups are slated for 6 with qualifying and racing to follow. |
