AUGUST 17, 2012; Wilmot, WI –  Race fans attending the Kenosha County Fair would have two opportunities to witness racing action at the Wilmot Raceway located on the fairgrounds in Wilmot, Wisconsin as the track presented back to back shows on Friday and Saturday Night.

The opening racing event of the fair would be contested on Friday Night August 17th, featuring the tracks popular Goodyear 410 sprints along with the Don’s Auto Parts & Machine Service / Hoosier Tire Modifieds and the Massive Speed Pro 4?s / Hawg Heaven Bandit 4?s.

The three division program would also feature the Green Mamba jet car, which entertained the fans with a complete meltdown of two cars during the show.

A field of 27 winged 410 sprint cars checked into the pit area to do battle during the program.  The 30 lap main event would see defending track champion Tommy Sexton set the pace in the feature contest fending off current point leader Mike Kertscher as the pair did battle for the lead throughout much of the event.   Not to be outdone Phillip Mock and visiting driver Paul May from Terre Haute, Indiana fought a similar battle for much of the contest just behind the leaders.

Just when it appeared that Sexton was headed for victory he tangled with Dennis Spitz as he attempted to put him a lap down as the white flag was about to fly, the resulting contact dropped Sexton from the contest and forcing slowdown in the event.

As a result Kertscher would inherit the lead for a green white checkered finish. On the restart Kertscher set sail to collect the victory with Kris Spitz, his nearest rival chasing him to the checkered flag.

As the cars were taking the checkered flag Scott Young who was running mid pack took a wild tumble down the front stretch, flipping end over end before coming to a rest in turn one.  He would emerge from his battered machine unhurt. Officially he was credited with seventh position.

The second place performance for Kris Spitz was best run so far during the 2011 season.  May outran Mock to collect third at the checkers. Mock and Raymond Hensley completed the top five. The show marked the return of veteran racer Todd Daun after several years away from the spot. Daun would finish a respectable sixth in the evening’s main event.

Earlier in the program Dennis Spitz captured the B-main over Allen Hafford and Robbie Wirth.  Heat victories were collected by Jereme Schroeder, Dave Uttech and Chris Dodd.

Don’s Auto Parts & Machine Service / Hoosier Tire Modifieds action Jeff Bodendorfer Jr. would set the pace until the mid-portion of the feature event.   Bodendorfer was out front of Scott Kuxhouse who had charged from deep in the field to battle for the lead.  The caution flag would fly when 2011 division champion Chris Carlson spun his machine just past the halfway point of the contest.

Kuxhouse would take advantage of the restart charging past Bodendorfer for the lead which he would hold to the checkered flag collecting the victory and closing in on Carlson in the season long point battle.

Bodendorfer Jr. would settle for second place honors followed by Jimmy Morrison, Jason Hyerdall and Carlson who rebounded with a top five finish.  That performance allowed Carlson to maintain a slim five point lead over Kuxhouse as the season points battle heats up in the closing weeks of the 2012 season.

Heat wins went to Joel Crowbridge, Mike Sullivan and Bodendorfer Jr.

The program would conclude with the main event for the Massive Speed Pro 4?s / Hawg Heaven Bandit 4?s.  A near season high 13 participants checked in to do battle.  Topping the Pro 4 division would be mini-sprint racer Andrew Kierdrewski who strapped himself into a 4 cylinder for this evening’s program.

Kierdrewski would lead Kris Rigert and Trevor Kroll to the line in the Bandit 4 results. Topping the Pro 4’s scoring would be Joe Summers who was chased to the checkered by Erik Grosch and Jake Greensley.

Action at the Wilmot Raceway continues next Saturday Night August 25th.  The program will feature the Goodyear 410 Winged Sprints along with R.A. Adams Enterprises / Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks and Massive Speed Pro 4?s / Hawg Heaven Bandit 4?s.

As a special feature, Vintage Modified will also be on hand for some exhibition racing.
