The season is winding down at the Wilmot Raceway, though the drama is being turned up. One championship was decided last week as Jeremy Schultz claimed the Hoosier Sprint Car crown. With just 2 weeks of racing remaining, 5 championships are yet to be claimed with a few certainly coming down to the final checkered flag, not to mention various positions throughout the top 5 and top 10 are extremely tight as racers go for bragging rights and a chance to claim some hardware and a check at the post season awards party. This Saturday Sept 7th is Championship Night for both the Massive Speed Pro 4’s and Hawg Heaven Bandit 4’s, plus the Fec’s Place / Outlaw Race Parts Mini Sprints. Additionally the tighest of point battles are in the Don’s Auto & Machine Modifieds, and the R.A. Adams Enterprises / Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks as they compete this Saturday too. Fans can see all this drama unfold for just $10 an adult this Saturday as Family Night pricing is in place, with all kids 11 & under admitted at no charge.
Erik Grosch leads Joe Summers in the Pro 4 class, while Jason Jones has a commanding lead over Rob Ehlenburg in the Bandit class heading into the final race for the 4’s Saturday. These divisions have truly grown and the talent pool has risen significantly this season. Nick Petska leads Tim Brannam, Zach Raidart, Mike Neau, and Nick Daywalt in Wilmot’s Mini Sprint point chase as their final checkered of the season flies this Saturday too.
The Mods & Streets have a pair of races remaining. This Saturday as part of Family Night, and then they decide their titles on Saturday Sept 14th as Wilmot Raceway closes the season in style with these 2 Championships plus the annual return of the high flying WDLMA Late Models in a outstanding tripleheader combination. Adult tickets are just $15 with kids 7-11 $5 for this traditional curtain closer. And talk about drama, Chris Carlson leads Jason Hyerdall in the Mod chase by just 9 points, with Cameron Kuxhouse closing the gap to just 46 markers as he sits in third. Several positions within the top 10 are up for grabs with just 2 races remaining. It’s wild in the Street Stocks too as Charles Pinkalla and Pat Rossmann have gone back and forth all season. Pinkalla holds a slim 12 point lead heading into this weekend. Several teams have shown increased speed as of late and are certainly gonna play a role in a very competitive division. Dustin Richards, Ronnie Mink, and Gerry Stollenwerk have been extremely solid and all are going to battling for victory lane with our two title contenders.
